My doctor said it was photodermatitis and caused from a sensitivity to the sun caused by the plaquenil. I am having a problem with that explanation as I haven't been in the sun in a few weeks and I am still getting the rash although it isn't blistery or as bad as it was. Side Effects Nausea, stomach cramps, loss of appetite, diarrhea, dizziness, or headache may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember. I think this rash is just starting, so I don't know if it will develope into hives or what. Could this be related to the plaquenil. I have had some weird hive like rashes in the past that I was not able to get biopsied for lupus, so I don't know if this could be the case or not.

Had to stop taking Plaquenil - I recently decided to stop taking Plaquenil because I was having constant chest pains even more so than I usually have due to Lupus. Since I have not taken it my chest feels so much better which is odd because chest pain is not listed as a side effect.
