May 23, 2016 Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is a medication that has been used for many years to help musculoskeletal symptoms and fatigue in patients with autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and Sjögren’s. Aug 09, 2016 Sjögrens fatigue – and all autoimmune fatigue – is a clinical conundrum. No one really knows the cause, although there is some interesting research being done by a neuroscientist in Alabama who may shed some light on the underlying cause soon. Fatigue is unrelated to blood tests e.g.- sed rate. Plaquenil and Flatulence - from FDA reports Summary Flatulence is found among people who take Plaquenil, especially for people who are female, 60+ old, have been taking the drug for 5 - 10 years, also take medication Folic Acid, and have Arthritis.

  3. Re Plaquenil - Can It Work Quickly? I tried to get on Plaquenil years ago, and couldn't tolerate it, but now I'm thinking there might be a lessor dose I should try. I'm new to the area, so don't have a rheumy yet.

PLAQUENIL brand-name is fantastic, however the generic Hydroxychloroquine is awful! I took brand-name for 2 years and my SLE was well-managed and I wasn’t having side effects. Then the brand name was switched by my pharmacy to the generic hydroxychloroquine and it was one of the worst experiences. May 05, 2010 I take Plaquenil along with prednisone, methotrexate, and Humira. None of these meds make me fatigued. I believe its the illness that causes my fatigue and my daughters fatigue. I suspect that holds true for you too. Maybe someone else will tell you differently, but I haven't known anyone else that found Plaquenil to make them tired. In rare cases, Plaquenil can cause cardiomyopathy, a chronic disease of the heart muscle.

My Take on New Ocular Screening Guidelines for Plaquenil RheumNow. I am lucky as a rheumatologist in practice for more than 30 years to have only had one malpractice lawsuit. But it was for alleged Plaquenil related eye toxicity, and believe me, attornies will grab any guideline they can as "Standard-of-Care" if it suits their case. All to say, we treat patients, not guidelines, but we all need to aware of these.
